A year ago we had the privilege of meeting with a community in Bacoor, Cavite, and the independent bishop who cares for them. We had a long conversation about the Church and hoped to return to do catechism and charity work among the many children. But COVID-19 intervened, and disrupted many plans, including this one.
Now, with travel restrictions relaxed, a team from the Department of Charity and Social Ministry of the Philippines-Vietnamese diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church has begun providing humanitarian assistance to poor families in Bacoor. Members from Christ the Savior Orthodox Community in nearby Tagaytay are training local volunteers in the basics of children’s nutrition and hygiene.
People in Bacoor have already heard of the Orthodox Church and quite a few of them are interested to know more. Please pray that an Orthodox community may be established there.
