This morning at Christ the Savior parish in Tagaytay City, an historical Hierarchal Liturgy was served by three metropolitans, together with nearly a dozen priests, including all the clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church in this country.
Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokalamsk celebrated the Liturgy together with Metropolitan Sergiy of Singapore and Southeast Asia, and Metropolitan Pavel of Khanty-Mansiysk, administrator of the Diocese of the Philippines and Vietnam. In addition to all the priests and deacons of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Philippines were clergy from Russia and Japan.
This was the first opportunity for Orthodox Filipinos and mission clergy to meet the new administrator of the diocese. Metropolitan Pavel met with clergy from Luzon and Mindanao, heard initial reports, and began making plans for an upcoming pastoral visit to all the parishes and communities in the Philippines. An atmosphere of thankfulness and hope prevailed as clergy, laity, and the new administrator discussed challenges and plans for the future of the diocese.
