When we began serving at Makalangot in 2017, the chapel consisted of a few poles and a roof made of plastic sheeting. Members had begun buying hollow cinder blocks in hopes of building a permanent place to worship, but progress was slow.
Now there is significant progress! The new chapel of Saint Seraphim of Sarov is taking shape — and with the addition of a metal onion dome and cross, the new church will be unmistakably Orthodox.
Next steps include installing a floor, doors, windows, paint, and building the iconostas. I do not have a budget figure to share at this time. But any donations designated for the building fund will be used to advance the construction of the Church of St Seraphim of Sarov, Makalangot, Arakan.
