Orthodox Filipina Catherina Buniel, was recently received as a novice at Gorodoksk monastery in Ukraine. She had wanted for man years to become a nun, and now her dream begins to be realized. Novice is first step of monastic life, as Abbess Mikhaila remarked after the service.
“Catherina’s mother died and we, together with the sisters, together prayed that she might join our spiritual family. There is a big distance between Ukraine and Philippines, but heart of a nun has no borders. So it is a very joyful day for our monastery. And I wish for our sister, novice Catherina, that this first step will be step of obedience, joy and love in her monastic way to our God”, said Matushka Mikhaila.
Sister Catherina will be the first nun in the Mission of the Russian Orthodox Church in Philippines. The day will come when she will be back to her country, but for now she will continue to be immersed in Orthodox monastic life in Gorodoksk Monastery.
