Father SilouanWe were surprised this week to see on the Internet a memo accusing the Philippine Mission of doing mission work without the blessing of the canonical bishop.
I hope this clarifies that Father Silouan and the Philippine Mission act with the blessing of the local canonical Orthodox bishop: Metropolitan Hilarion, Archbishop of Sydney, Australia and New Zealand, and First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia.
Acting in obedience to our canonical bishop, members of our mission community gladly leave issues of jurisdictional politics to our hierarchs, so that we can emphasize worship, teaching, evangelism, and works of charity.
