The Feast of Pentecost was celebrated with the Divine Liturgy in the parish of St John Maximovitch in Santa Maria, Davao Occidental.

Visiting clergy Father Stanislav Rasputin and Deacon George Maximov of the Moscow Patriarchate conducted services, with many members of the community coming to confession and Holy Communion. The service was conducted largely in English, but Deacon George was able to do parts in the Cebuano language as well. There was good participation in the service, thanks to leaders who have been faithfully conducting reader services of the Hours and Typica in the absence of a local priest.

Deacon George also reports that two new books have now been printed in the Cebuano language: “Typika and Ninth hour” and “What is the Orthodox Church?” These two books are to be distributed to the faithful in Santa Maria, together with the Filipino-language book “How Is the Orthodox Church Different?”
